Young People and the Scout Movement

The aim of the Scout Movement is to encourage the physical, mental and spiritual development of young people so that they may take a constructive place in society.

The method of achieving this aim is to provide an attractive and enjoyable scheme of progressive training. In other words SCOUTING is FUN.

Naturally all children are different and so we try to provide a wide and varied programme so that every young person will find something that they are already interested in and, much more important, some new interests. To achieve this we require many resources and adult helpers. We are always on the lookout for new ideas, places to visit, hobbies and activities.

To help in providing an interesting programme for the young people, Scout Group is split into age groups. These are as follows:

Beaver Scouts 6 to 8 years

Cub Scouts 8 to 10 ½ years

Scouts 10 ½ to 14 years

Explorer Scouts 14 to 18 years

Age range flexibility

The Scouting Association is a large organisation dedicated to helping young person become a mature, happy, useful citizen of the future
